Corporate organizations are always concerned with the methods they can use for purposes of reducing waste and recycling their products for purposes of conserving the environment. However, achieving this objective of reducing and recycling is a difficult process, particularly when an organization is manufacturing products that are not perishable. Examples of these products include electronics, motor vehicles, plastic substances, etc. In as much as these products are not perishable, they have an end of life, and if they are not well disposed, they may cause environmental pollution (Tietenberg & Lewis, 2016). This paper examines the manner which corporate organizations are reducing wastes and recycling the products they manufacture. The focus of this paper will be on Volkswagen Corporate Group, and this is because the company has managed to achieve efficiency in reducing waste disposal and recycling their products.

As part of their policies on sustenance, a large number of corporate organizations are working hard to reduce the amount of waste they are producing and to convert them into money (Huffman et al, 2014). Furthermore, these organizations focus on the design of their products for purposes of developing and creating a design that will enable the company to create products that are environment friendly. A good example of a corporate organization that designs its products to be environmental friendly is Volkswagen Corporate Group. The first stage of production in this company is the design stage, and at this stage, the goal of the company is to design a motor vehicle that is environmental friendly and one that can be remanufactured after reaching its end of life (Volkswagen, 2014). In fact, the engineers and manufacturers of Volkswagen Corporate Group are able to manufacture the vehicles of the company by the use of recyclable materials, due to the nature of the design of these cars.

Furthermore, during the designing stage, the designers of Volkswagen are supposed to label all the parts of the vehicle, as this will make it easier for the engineers of the company to identify the various parts of the vehicle that will be developed by the use of a recyclable material (Volkswagen, 2014. Furthermore, Volkswagen has mandated the designers of the company to develop a design that will use limited hazardous materials. On this note, Volkswagen Corporate Group managed to reduce the wastage of products during its manufacturing process. The results of these policies is that Volkswagen has managed to achieve the global sustainability standard for car manufacturers, which is producing vehicles that have a recycling rate of 85%, and 95% recovery rate (Volkswagen, 2014. In fact, Volkswagen has take back stores that are built at its different markets, and the aim of these stores is to collect end of life vehicles for purposes of remanufacturing and recycling. These stores have helped in preventing the disposal and dumping of products belonging to Volkswagen; hence it is a good policy that helps to reduce waste disposal.
